Task One: Macbeth's Therapy Session

Your first task on this blog is to write the script of an imaginary visit by Macbeth to his therapist, shortly after the infamous 'Banquet Scene'.

It is important to immerse yourself in his role, so that the script becomes as convincing as possible. You will want to add stage directions where necessary, and also bring the role of the therapist to life - but their contributions will probably be minimal.

Through this task, you need to demonstrate a thorough and profound understanding of the development of Macbeth's character by this point. Crucially, you also need to be able to evidence your ideas with pithy and apt quotations from the text itself. N.B. These should be embedded into your script, but coloured differently to highlight them (see example below).

You will be assessed according to all three MYP English A criteria.
Macbeth shifts uneasily in his chair, unable to keep the gaze of his therapist opposite.

Macbeth: I knew from the start that my robes were just borrowed. And, in the light of day, everyone would see this. I think that's why I wanted the stars to hide their fires; somehow, if I could do everything in darkness, no one would know. You know?

Therapist: You knew the robes weren't yours? From the start? But you continued?

Macbeth: Well we all have black and deep desires, don't we? I'm no different.
Your script must appear on this blog by midnight on Sunday 27th March.
